Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress. She attended the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has appeared in films such as Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She plays the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the daughter of the Korean mother, as well as a father who was French-Russian. Her father was a consul in Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter, was her grandfather. Her parents chose the name "Pom" due to the fact that it's similar in pronunciation to the Korean words for "spring" as well as "tiger". Klementieff resided in Canada for a short time before her family traveled extensively because of her father's work. Prior to moving to France they resided in Japan as well as on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff lost her father to cancer at the age of five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, whom she described as "like [her] father", died at 18 years old. Her brother, who was older who committed suicide years later, was her aunt. Klementieff was a student at law school for a short time after the death of her uncle in order to appease her aunt but did not find the academic choice appealing. In France, she worked as a salesperson and waitress. She started acting when she was 19and attended the Cours Florent theatre school in Paris. After finishing her studies she was selected for an award in the theater which granted her two years of tuition alongside some of the top instructors at the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006) the film that was her first role as an actor professionally. The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. In one scene, she was supposed to push someone down a flight of stairs but accidentally fell down the steps herself, as did director Gael Morel recorded that scene in the film. Her debut lead role came in Loup (2009) A French film that follows a tribe of reindeer herders located in the Siberian mountains. The film was shot in an isolated camp, which was a few hours from the closest village. There, temperatures dropped to zero.
